Steps to Launch your Project Manager or Scrum Master Dream Job with Confidence:

STEP #1 - START WITH SELF ANALYSIS

Before you start applying for your project management job, the most important thing is to analyze is WHY you want the job. Blindly applying for open positions will not get you very far, and taking just any job may have you searching over and over.

Knowing what you want will guide you into creating a tailored approach in your job search plan.

Things to consider include:

  • Do you want to find a full time job?
  • Do you want to stay in the same industry or branch out?
  • Do you want to do a similar role in your next position?
  • Do you want to try something new?
  • Do you want to work in your passion areas?

STEP #2 - KNOW YOUR STORY

Knowledge inspires confidence and knowing your story helps you gather and put together your skills and experiences in preparation for your application process. This will help you narrow down and compare it to what the market is offering and if there are any industry trends or updates.

Things to consider include:

  • Where are the opportunities?
  • What are employers and recruiters asking for?
  • What has changed or evolving in this space?
  • How can you next position yourself to capitalize on this?

STEP #3 - NETWORK AND CONNECTIONS

It is estimated that 60-70% of jobs are not posted or advertised, so If you are job searching, be open to networking with your connections. Reach out to old and new connections to let them know that you are open for new positions and what your goals are. Networking with people will give you pointers on what is happening out there or tips and tricks.

Things to consider include:

  • Are there people I should introduce myself to?
  • Am I actively maintaining relationships which can help me?
  • Who might my networks and connections know?

Hi, My name is Anna Anderson, your Project Management Career Strategist.

I am the Founder and CEO of Women in Project Management Network.  I started this network to support ALL Women who are looking for a position in Project Management learn the steps to help them get noticed online by recruiters and employers by digitizing their online presence.  I have a unique perspective because I have been in a position looking for support and took the initiative to invest in myself to promote myself and land my Dream Job as a Project Manager.  

I have Project Management Certifications from PMI as well as a Scrum Master Certification from Scrum Alliance.

I also hold a Masters in Project Management and a Masters in International Business, Trade and Commerce.
